STORAGE FACILITY ONSITE SECURITY GUARDS CAN HELP STOP BREAK-INS

A recent break-in at a Glendale, California storage facility highlights the need for onsite security guards.

Owners of a storage unit at Glendale Public Storage lost at least $75,000 worth of sports memorabilia and comic books that they stored in their unit. The facility was broken into twice in one day. First, thieves broke into several units including the victims. They came back later and went straight for the unit containing the sports memorabilia and comic books. The thieves were caught on camera loading up the stolen goods and driving away. Police hope to identify the crooks, but odds are, by then, many of the items will already be sold.

Onsite Security Guards. Security cameras can only do so much without an in-person security guard presence. By the time the camera feed is reviewed (often the next day), the criminals are long gone.

Alliance Guard Services recommends a two-pronged approach–24-hour camera surveillance with live feeds reviewed offsite in real-time, and onsite security guards who can catch robbers in the act as well as investigate suspicious activity noticed on the camera feed by the offsite security team.

This kind of security effort would have prevented break-ins such as the one in Glendale from happening.

If you own a storage facility you owe it to your clients to offer more than a locked door to keep criminals out.
